I help performing artists and independent singer-songwriters give amazing singing performances. On the Star Singer Podcast we talk about all things singing, performance, and industry so that you can finally become the Star Singer that you were meant to be!

Dr. Heather Nelson is a vocologist from Springfield, Missouri. She teaches privately, specializing in working with singers who have injury or are at greater risk for injury. She loves working with singers of all skill levels, but especially loves helping professional voice users develop and refine technique that will help them perform at their best level. When not teaching or writing, she can be found reading, cooking, and attending to every wish and whim of Dooey the dog and Sis the cat.

We talk about:
  • How your brain uses sensory information to make decisions about how your singing sounds.
  • How ambient noise can effect how loud we sing, even when we aren't perceiving it.
  • Airborne Vs. Digital Feedback
  • The potentially negative effects, on the voice and brain, of digital sound set up and amplification.
  • Getting over your fear of singing for others or for a new voice teacher.
  • Why we sound different inside our head vs. how the rest of the world hears us.
  • How the brain can play tricks on you based on your singing environment.
  • How to use information based on vocal acoustics in order to let your true voice come out and improve your singing!
